Nearly Half of Farm Food Thrown Away Could Feed All Going Hungry

WHY IS FOOD IS THROWN AWAY TO LANDFILL WHEN COULD FEEED EVERYONE IN ENGLAND TODAY?

Farmers are obliged to throw away fruit and vegetables that are called ugly fruit, because it is not regulation shape or size. Thus up to 40% waste of perfectly edible food.

In UK each year, about 90,000 tonnes of produce is thrown away to landfill.

Supermarkets throw away to landfill, food gone by its 'best before' display date, when this food is still safe to eat.

I have been eating such food, put in the freezer and eaten weeks afterwards. Even vegetables and meat.

As more and more cash-strapped households are ignoring the 'best before' and 'use by' labels on food, up to 70% price savings can be made.

But what about those left with no money at all, no matter how seriously ill, disabled, aged 60 or working poor with flat-lining wages down to levels of 2002 - all suffering sanctioned lack of income, tax on low wages, huge inflation in rents, food and energy bills and loss of state pension at 60 for women:

Supermarkets, food shops, restaurants and caterers are all throwing surplus food away to landfill, by which government makes a profit in charging to take away rubbish and then charging a landfill tax on the rubbish tips. Whilst leaving people to starve.

Around the World Food Banks are Daily Feeding Stations called Soup Kitchens or Pantries or similar:

Food Wasted that could feed every hungry person in whole of UK:

WHAT WOULD THE SWANS DO DIFFERENTLY?

- Farmers can have soup kitchens in their farm produce shops, to people with sanction letters and donate misshaped fruit and vegetables to low income pensioners / housebound disabled / chronic sick in the village.

- Mandatory donations to daily soup kitchens in place of the Jobcentres, by all supermarkets, food shops, restaurants, caterers of surplus food and by farmers of misshapen fruit and vegetable.

- Jobcentres turned soup kitchens, will also provide meals on wheels to low income pensioners and housebound disabled / chronic sick, using solar powered vans.

- End Landfill Tax on rubbish tips with lowest food waste accepted.
